‘(…) Thursday 23rd August 1894 – At night we went to the rehearsal of la berbena. For the first time with the orchestra of 30 teachers –
We went for the shawls to Jesusa’s. I sewed my lilac dress at Mercedes’s. Indalecia was there. We went back home in the evening (…).
‘(…) Sunday 26th – The Day of the performance of La Berbena de la Paloma. We got dressed at Patau’s dressing room, Catalina as Casta and I for the choir. During the performance we were given flowers. After the berbena dance… We got home at 3 ½ (…)’. Notes 1 p. 052 and 053
Josefina says in ‘I’, her brief autobiography included in volume 16 in 1949:
‘(…) My first trip to Spain… (in 1903) … We sailed away on the Duchessa di Génova at the beginning of May- a picturesque, unforgettable voyage, captain Pio Batta Carbone was my submissive admirer – I played the piano very well – I accompanied all the ones who were singing – we had a lot of fun, a lot of friendship, a lot of friendliness (…)’.

‘(…) Wednesday 25th May 1908. Holiday. A very hot and humid day. We took three photographic groups of everybody. I developed them at the moment while Pepe was hunting. Then I listened to tangos for a long time before dinner. We played chess until 10 in the evening (…)’.
5th February 1914- “(…) At 2 o’clock sharp in the afternoon the Duca D’Aosta sailed away fron the port of Barcelona… We have cabin 12. I’m so glad to come back to my beloved Buenos Aires!! (…)”
